Who are the Concussion in Sport Group (CISG)?

The Concussion in Sport Group (CISG) is a global team of medical experts and researchers working together to improve how we understand, identify, and manage concussions in sport. Since 2002, the CISG has been leading the way in creating international guidelines and practical tools that help athletes, coaches, parents, and health professionals make safer, evidence-based decisions after a head injury.

What Does the CISG Do?

At its core, the CISG exists to make concussion care better — for everyone, everywhere. Their mission is to turn the latest scientific research into simple, easy-to-use resources that work across different sports, cultures, and age groups.

Every four years, the group hosts a major international conference where they review new research, refine their recommendations, and update the tools used worldwide.

Why These Tools Matter

Free and Accessible: These resources are available to everyone, anywhere in the world.

Evidence-Based: Built on the latest research and expert agreement from leading international specialists.

Globally Adaptable: Translated and adapted for different languages and cultures, making them practical for diverse communities and sporting environments.

Integrated Approach: These free concussion tools support the full process — from recognising concussion symptoms to baseline concussion testing and long-term recovery management.

These free downloadable concussion tools support sideline concussion protocols, symptom checklists, and return-to-play guidelines — all aligned with CISG international standards.

We’re building a digital screening workflow for clinicians to assess concussion, track recovery, and streamline documentation.
