Is the workshop suitable for beginners?

Absolutely! Whether you are new to concussion management or have some experience, this workshop will provide you with valuable insights and hands-on practice. 

What is covered on this course?

  • Discuss the very latest in clinical best practice evidence.
  • Follow steps for referrals for mental health and/or cognitive dysfunction.
  • Complete a clinical assessment for central and peripheral vestibular dysfunctions.
  • Complete a clinical assessment for balance and postural control.
  • Complete a screen for oculomotor dysfunctions.
  • Interpret and apply effective clinical reasoning for oculomotor and vestibular-ocular symptoms and signs, including analysis of eye-tracking technology reports.
  • Interpret basic assessments and select the most appropriate treatments for the most common types of Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV).
  • Complete a full clinical assessment of the cervical spine and apply effective clinical reasoning to manage common whiplash disorders.
  • Design an individualised cervicovestibular rehabilitation plans following concussion.
  • Complete a full autonomic dysfunction screen, including orthostatic, treadmill and bike exercise tests.
  • Discuss proactive and specific concussion rehabilitation in the context for readiness for return to play and injury risk in specific sports.

How long is this course and how much does it cost?

This course is delivered to groups of no more than 16 people; it is supervised by practitioners who have skills that encompass both the musculoskeletal and neurological; and it is delivered face to face. Currently it is available in Australia and the United Kingdom but with more practitioners joining the community……watch this space!

Is this course CPD accredited?

At the end of the day you will be provided with a certificate of attendance that can be used to enhance a CPD portfolio.

What should I bring to the workshop?

Please bring a notebook/ laptop and come in active wear as well as any specific questions you may have related to concussion care. All other materials will be provided. 

Are there any recommended pre readings prior to the workshop?

It is recommended that you complete the Comprehensive online course to ensure you understand background knowledge in depth. Other specific pre readings will be sent out in advance to attending the workshop.
